The business was formed in November, 1984 as a 1 hour photo lab and portrait studio by Larry Kalbfeld. Then called Photos in a Flash, Larry took his love of photography and started a business that did more than develop film, it developed relationships in Guilford, Connecticut and the surrounding shoreline community.
Larry’s early career was in corporate advertising, so as technologies changed, he brought his past advertising and promotion skills to his retail business. Soon the studio was doing projects for the Guilford Agricultural Society, Guilford Library, Guilford Chamber of Commerce and more. No longer just a 1 hour photo lab service, the business name was changed to In a Flash Studio to reflect the many creative services offered.
Larry has been very involved in the community. Volunteer work includes: The Guilford Chamber of Commerce, served on the Board of Directors for 10 years in addition to serving on many committees including Business Development; Membership; Ambassador; Public Relations (chairman for 8 years) and Governess. Also on the Board of Directors for the Guilford Agricultural Society, the organization behind the annual Guilford Fair, one of the largest annual events on the Connecticut shoreline. Serving as Superintendent of the Exhibitor Guide, Advertising and Co-Chair of the Photography exhibit.
